A Chinese huanghuali table-top chest, Guanpixiang. Of rectangular form with a bail handle on each side, the hinged domed cover is set with brass corner mounts and a chain, opening to reveal a separate compartment above a pair of doors with a ruyi-shaped clasp and circular lock plate. The doors and cover open to reveal four drawer pulls, the wood of a warm brown tone.
