Provenance: The Collection of Patricia and Denis Dunlop
The Dunlops’ diplomatic life took them to Washington, New York, Singapore, and New Delhi before finally bringing them to Seoul in the early 1970s, where Denis Dunlop (1917-2012) served as New Zealand’s ambassador. It was during this posting that Patricia Dunlop (1920-2010) developed a deep engagement with Korean and East Asian art. With a discerning eye—and often accompanied by her niece, the internationally renowned Asian Art Specialist Sue Ollemans—Patricia assembled an elegant and distinguished collection of ceramics and artworks, carefully sourced from reputable markets and dealers in Seoul. The pieces presented here are drawn from this remarkable collection, reflecting her enduring passion for the art and culture of East Asia.
