Set within a substantial, dark-stained moulded frame, the composition presents a lone labourer in a blue smock and pale headscarf cutting through a sunlit wheatfield. The foreground is built from short, rhythmic strokes-stubble, fallen stalks, and bundled sheaves-rendered in saturated ochres and warm golds that pulse across the surface. Behind the figure, the land opens toward low, blue-green hills and a band of distant vegetation, punctuated by a single tree to the left and a cluster of tall, wind-leaning cypresses to the right. Above, a charged sky turns in broad, circular currents of turquoise and ultramarine, the brushwork visibly rotating in sweeping arcs that heighten the scene's heat, movement, and immediacy.
