Note: McCorkle was a prolific painter of portraits, still life, landscapes, and figure studies. He attended the LA Art Center at Pasadena, where he graduated with honors in 1964. During the late 1960s, McCorkle went on to continue his studies at the Thomas Leighton Art studio in San Francisco. Upon Mr. Leighton's passing in 1976, Alan eventually took on the job of teaching courses in figure drawing and painting at the Leighton studio.
